Tamales Plus was founded in October 2018.
We have more than 30 years of experience making tamales, we did it voluntarily in the ministry to help families in need in our parish in San Bernardino, California. Several families would get together, we would make contributions to make the tamales, the Church in which we participated gave us the opportunity to sell the tamales and with the funds we bought food pantries to take to the communities that were in need in Tijuana, that's how my wife and I taught ourselves to make tamales that we later started making them for family and friends at Christmas or holidays.
Everything cooked at the restaurant is done the same way as home, with fresh ingredients every day, the only difference is that they are larger quantities and larger utensils. 90% of our clients are Americans, some of them have had the opportunity to go to Mexico not as tourists but on missions with their Church and they know our culture and food in a special way and above all they have tried all kinds of tamales and they’ve liked ours much more.
The restaurant is run by family members only; Me (Juan), my wife, my children, nieces, nephews, my sister-in-law and brother-in-law, pure family and the occasional friendship.
Zucchini, squash, potatoes, carrots, beets, special sauce non spicy with gluten free corn masa.
Refried beans, mexican rice, lettuce and pico de gallo. Served with salsa on the side
Choice of chips: fritos, hot cheetos, doritos, munchies, takis, flaming hot onion rings. Choice of fillings: steak, lettuce, pico de gallo, shredded or melted cheddar cheese, red or green salsa.
